“Undecided”

Song by Ray Charles

An instrumental jazz piece from Ray Charles’ first proper full-length LP, “Undecided” is the final song on 1957’s The Great Ray Charles. Everyone gets a solo on the short and chipper tune, painting the performance with the feel of a final curtain call from the band. “Undecided” is jittery enough to hint at the indecision of its title, but swinging enough to imply that maybe the mood here is one of satisfaction – being undecided because there are so many good options in a successful young muso’s life. A more mature take on “Th’ Ego Song”, maybe!
