“Can Anyone Ask For More”

Song by Maxin Trio

Appears on

1949: 78rpm B-side

One of Ray’s earliest recordings is “Can Anyone Ask For More”, released on a 78 on the Down Beat label in 1949. It’s a smooth lounge tune on which Ray’s lively and familiar piano takes a back seat to exciting electric guitar stabs. Ray’s three-piece at this time was The McSon Trio which had the misfortune to have its name misspelled in a variety of ways: on “Can Anyone Ask For More” the artist is given as Maxin Trio. Sigh.
